3 days in Venice

The train ride to Venice was a couple hours. Again buying tickets and finding the right platform and stop reminded me of what it must be like to be illiterate! Luckily I could read some! I'm going to look for a class in Italian when I get home! From the train we took a boat to San Marco, the center of Verona.  (cue the Marco Polo commercial!)
I got the same feeling that we got when standing in front of the opera house in Sydney: a place we have seen so many times in pictures, books and movies but now we were actually there! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. However, I took way too many pictures and the WiFi isn't strong enough to upload them to my icloud program. I'll try to get some on and hope for better WiFi in Verona!
We spent a lot of time in Piazza San Marco.. We climbed to the top of the tower to see the view. Bella! And freezing I might add! The cathedral was incredible. But mostly we just wandered neighborhoods and explored. Just incredible! I talked Lou into a gondola ride. (how could you be in Verona and not ride a gondola!) we visited the islands of Murano,  (known for beautiful glass, Burano, (known for beautiful lace), and Torcello, (known for farming) and the first place we've seen so much as a blade of grass since arriving in Italy. Once again, great food, great wine, lots of espresso and pane! We'll worry about calories later! No running possible but we've averaged walking about 12 miles a day!

Sorry can't get any pics to upload right now. I'll put a few on Facebook and try again later!
Ciao! ci vedremo a Verona!
